"Women of Wonder"

In observance of FotoFest Biennial 2020, Hooks-Epstein Galleries is proud to present photography-based works by Kathryn Dunlevie. Dunlevie’s "Women of Wonder" series is inspired by today’s hyper-abundance of visual information. Dunlevie treats the imagery from disparate sources as transmutable raw material, intermixing her own photographs with elements from popular, as well as historical sources. This imagery, which echoes the startling juxtapositions of contemporary visual culture and illustrates unexpected jumps through time and space, conjures up curious entities and atypical scenarios. Yet, as these diverse images converge and give rise to enigmatic situations, Kathryn Dunlevie’s pieces inspire its viewers to live a life of intrigue and go unabashedly wherever they choose.
