In his artwork, Kurt Kemp brilliantly combines drawing, collage, assemblage, and printmaking techniques, thereby creating complex layers of color and design. Reflections on family, religion, politics, and culture are all vital sources in the making of his work. The images, which portray experiences of struggle and fight-back are kept in check by an idiosyncratic humor and absurdity.
Kurt Kemp earned a B.A. from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA, a M.A. in Printmaking from the University of Iowa in Forest City, IA, and a M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.
