THE BOX: AN INVITATIONAL THEMED-EXHIBITION

Hooks-Epstein Galleries will present "The Box", an invitational themed-exhibition honoring gallery founder, the late Geri Hooks. "The Box" will open Saturday, December 4, 2021. An "Open House" for the exhibition will take place from 11:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. Artists will be present throughout the day. Geri Hooks founded Hooks-Epstein Galleries in 1969 by offering prints for purchase. "Le Petit Gallery", inside Hooks-Epstein Galleries, offered a variety of prints that were priced under $100. From small beginnings, grew an art gallery that has served the Houston Art Community for over 50 years and counting. Throughout Hooks' career she represented many artists, whose work has graced the gallery walls. Geri's doors were always open to visitors, collectors and artists from various backgrounds and stages of their careers. Geri Hooks passed away this past June and is missed. However, her spirit and love for art continues through all who knew her, especially her gallery artists. Geri enjoyed curating themed exhibitions and one of her favorites was the "box". We invited artists, in addition to our gallery artists to participate in "The Box". Other than a size guideline, the artists were left to their own devices to interpret the physical and intellectual concept of a box in either two- or three- dimensions. The exhibition features work by Julie Brook Alexander, Rabea Ballin, Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak, HJ Bott, Karin Broker, Sandi Seltzer Bryant, Angel Castelán, Marcos Hernández Chávez, Charlotte Cosgrove, Mel Dewees, Kathryn Dunlevie, Sunni Forcier, Desira Garcia, Mayuko Ono Gray, Leamon Green, Mark Greenwalt, Clara Hoag, Meredith Jack, Ann Johnson, Ronald L.
