Color in Present Time

Lorena Morales’ Color in Present Time relates to the journey of finding her way home. A native of Venezuela, Morales moved to the USA in 2003. Since immigrating, her perception of home has evolved along with her new, mixed cultural identity. Recollections of familiar sounds, everyday scents, and reoccurring images from both, her birth home and adoptive home, interweave within her mind. Through the interplay of vivid colors and geometric shapes with shifting light and shadows, Morales’ works propose an abstract visual passage that signifies the intersection of her memories, emotions, and expectations.
